Scrambles Rules
Teams of 4
- Each person hits a ball from the tee.
- Each player MUST contribute a minimum of TWO tee-off shots for each 9- hole course; a minimum of four tee shots per player must appear in the total score
- Each player tees off on each hole; decide which tee shot is best; then mark the spot with a tee or ball marker
- The other team members pick up their balls and proceed to the best ball position; place your ball within one club length (not closer to the hole) of the marked spot; each team member hits their next shot from the marked spot
- The above sequence is followed on every shot for the remainder of the hole, including putts; the ball should be marked on the putting green also
- Putts need to be made within 3 inches of the marked spot (not closer to
- the hole)
- The first ball to go in the hole is counted for the team score; to keep the groups moving, limit putts to a maximum of three (3) per hole
- If the ball you choose to play is in a playable hazard (sand or the rough), you cannot drop the ball outside of the hazard even if relief is within one club length away. If the ball you choose to play is in a non playable hazard (water or out of bounds), drop the ball within one club length, not closer to the hole, into a playable area and score an extra stroke to your score card.
Teams of 3
- If the group consists of three people, four shots must still be taken.
- After each person has hit his/her first tee shot a member of the team must hit a fourth ball off the tee. The person who hits this ball must continue to hit an extra shot until the ball is holed.
- At the second tee another member of the group must be selected to hit the fourth ball. This player CANNOT be the same player who hit the fourth ball on the last hole. As explained above he/she is responsible for hitting the fourth ball until the ball is holed.
- The player responsible for the fourth ball on the third hole will be the player who did not hit the fourth ball on the previous two tees.
- This three-player rotation must be followed throughout the entire round. The player responsible for the fourth ball must alternate after every hole.
- Teams of three (or less) are ineligible to win the NavaCup Tournament
